Mentoring Writers & Leading AI Enablement Across the Guild
Role:
Senior KB Editor / AI Ambassador
Challenge:
As a Senior KB Editor, part of my responsibility is helping other writers grow — improving their craft, aligning with KB standards, and adapting to new tools and workflows. As generative AI tools emerged, this expanded into a bigger challenge: some writers were eager to experiment while others were skeptical or overwhelmed. The team needed structured training, safe spaces to learn, and individual guidance — not just tools, but confidence.
Contribution:
Provide ongoing 1-on-1 mentoring to writers, helping them improve their writing abilities, adapt AI tools into their daily workflows, and better align with KB editorial standards. Beyond individual mentoring, designed and delivered group trainings for both the KB team and the broader Writers Guild. Created the official AI Learning Path curriculum covering beginner to advanced skills. Hosted regular AI Open Hours — drop-in sessions where writers get hands-on help with specific AI challenges. Designed and facilitated structured workshops like 'Creating a Bank of Reusable AI Prompts for Your Team' with practical exercises.
Outcome:
Measurably increased the team's confidence and competence with both writing craft and AI tools. Shifted the culture from cautious experimentation to confident daily AI usage. Recognized in formal performance feedback for setting the tone for AI adoption and making it approachable. The mentoring and enablement work is ongoing and central to my role as Senior KB Editor.
